Abstract
A ring model is used to study the limit load for X and XX tubular joints under axial compression. The effective width for the analogy ring is obtained by the regression of test data and FEM data. An analytic formula for the limit load is given and the predicted limit strength from the present method is close to the results of test and FEM.
