A SIMULATION OF COMPRESSION FAILURE PROCESS AND RESIDUAL STRENGTH IN LAMINATED COMPOSITES CONTAINING A PREFAB DELAMINATION DAMAGE

  • In this paper, a finite element model is based on a high-order displacement mode and combined with damage criteria and stiffness decreasing method. By using this finite element model, the failure process and residual strength of several laminated composites containing a prefab delamination damage under compression load are analyzed. Compared with the experimental results, good agreement is reached and the effectiveness of the numerical simulation method is demonstrated.
