Abstract
For design of overturn-resistant equipment with vertical energy dissipation, a steel-lead mixed damper is designed. Tensile and cyclic loading tests are performed to study the mechanical properties of the damper. Results show that the bi-material damper can work efficiently to dissipate energy. Based on the results, the hysteretic curve is given and the restoring model is set up. A base-isolated structure with a large height-to-width ratio is analyzed. The result indicates that the steel-lead mixed damper can dissipate energy and avoid overturn of structure.
