Abstract
The behavior and ultimate capacity of multi-planar complex tubular joints in the steel roof structure with CHS members used in the T2 Terminal Building of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport were experimentally researched. A special self-equilibrium spatial test setup was designed. Two full-scale joint specimens were tested under monotonic loading, with one unstiffened and the other inner stiffened. Test results show that two specimens are kept in elastic range under design loads, and significant chord plastification was observed at the end of the test. It is also found that the ultimate strength of two specimens is higher than design loads and the failure mode is ductile.
