IMPACT ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURES BASED ON FINITE PARTICLE METHOD

  • The Finite Particle Method (FPM) is a structural analysis method based on the Vector Mechanics. The FPM discretizes the analyzed domain intio finite particles, and its basic idea is to simulate the motion behavior of structural particles. It has been proven that the FPM is very powerful in the analysis of structural complicated behaviors. This paper presents the structural impact analysis using the FPM. According to the discretized structural models, the contact detecting method and the impact models are proposed. The formulations of the impact force between the impact elements are derived to calculate the impact reaction. The internal forces and displacement of particles connected to the impact elements are modified correspondingly. The program based on the FPM is also developed to analyze structural impact behaviors. Two numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of this method in the impact analysis.
